Shjon Podein Hosts Celebrity Party for Children's Foundation

Event aiming to raise $200,000

Rochester, MN – The Shjon Podein Children’s Foundation is proud to announce their 2010 Celebrity Party and Concert fundraising event.  

Who:                Shjon Podein Children’s Foundation (AKA Team 25)
 

Why:                Fundraising event founded initially to raise money for the Ataxia Telangiectasia (A-T) Children’s Project, a disease that manifests itself as a combination of Cystic Fibrosis, Cerebral Palsy, immune deficiencies, and Muscular Dystrophy.

Over the years, the scope of causes/organizations that receive grants from this non-profit has expanded to include: Second Harvest & Channel One Food Banks, Boys & Girls Club, Majestic Hills Therapeutic Horse Ranch, Cystic Fibrosis of MN, and Toys for Tots.

                       Over the past 12 years, this annual fundraiser has been the driving event that has helped the foundation gift over $1.2 million. This year’s event goal is to raise $200,000.

The Shjon Podein Children’s Foundation (AKATeam 25) is a 501c3 nonprofit started by Shjon and Sherry Podein in 1997. The mission of the Shjon Podein Children’s Foundation is to improve the quality of life and create an environment of caring and community support for children facing extraordinary difficulties in their lives. Podein, a native of Rochester, MN, is a 12-year veteran of the NHL with career highlights including winning the Stanley Cup in 2001 with the Colorado Avalanche and being awarded the King Clancy Cup that same year for his service to humanity off-ice.
